Momentum’s executive leadership program is targeted to senior-level professional women who have generally attained the highest level within their team or department, have 10+ years of experience in their field, and are already executive level or have executive level potential.

Momentum’s Upward early-career leadership program is designed for high-potential, emerging leaders with less than ten year’s of experience in their field.

The executive program and Upward early-career program are both based on a 9-month curriculum.

The executive program begins in May with a 2-day retreat, meets monthly for a full day in September, October, November, January, February, March and April, and concludes with a two-day session and graduation ceremony in May.

The Upward early-career program begins in January with a full day session, then meets for half-days in February, March, April, May, July, August and September, and concludes with a full-day session and graduation ceremony in October. For the half-day sessions there will be a morning class and an afternoon class. Both classes will come together for lunch.

Momentum has a rigorous curriculum. Sessions are intensive and cover a lot of material. For this reason, smart phones and other devices may only be used during breaks. One homework assignment is given prior to each session.

In addition, each class is divided into smaller co-mentoring groups which meet monthly during the program year, outside of class time. The time, location, and duration for this meeting is determined by each co-mentoring group.

Attendance at opening and closing sessions is mandatory, and attendance in at least six of the remaining seven sessions is required to graduate. Make-up assignments are given for the session missed.

Each Momentum class is limited to 30 participants. Anyone can apply for a Momentum leadership class using the online application that corresponds to the program desired. Some organizations have a formal selection process for the applicant they will “nominate” for Momentum. Check with your HR department or Training and Development team to see if your organization has a nomination process in place. Due to the time and tuition commitments, we ask that each participant get approval from their direct supervisor to apply.

The investment in Momentum’s executive leadership program is $5,000 for the year, and Upward early-career program is $2,000 for the year, inclusive of meals and materials. This tuition is a fraction of what comparable programs cost in other parts of the country, made possible by the generous support of our alumnae and our corporate partners.

Momentum is a member-supported nonprofit. When our budget allows, we also provide full or partial scholarships for applicants who are selected and unable to pay the full tuition.

Generally tuition costs are covered in full or in part by the employer.

Yes, although the selection committee will only place one participant per organization in a particular class in order to maintain candor. With three leadership classes per year (one executive class and two Upward classes), one organization could have up to three participants in our program year. Because the selection committee looks for representation across industry, discipline, race/ethnicity, and background, we encourage larger organizations to send more than one applicant from diverse disciplines for each class in order to increase their chances of placement. Organizations with multiple entities or locations may receive special consideration on the one-participant rule.

We encourage you to apply again. Our programs are highly competitive. Not every qualified applicant will be placed. Our selection committee is charged with creating each class with a diverse group of talented participants who will compliment and learn from one another. The application process for those applying for the second time will only require an updated resume.

Momentum regularly hosts webinars, workshops and events on a wide range of leadership topics, featuring nationally recognized facilitators, authors, coaches, trainers and psychologists. Momentum hosts an outstanding biennial leadership conference in even years (2020, 2022, 2024, etc.) drawing nearly 1,000 professionals state-wide to attend. With two internationally recognized keynote speakers, a full day of breakout sessions, and plenty of networking opportunities in between, this is a must-do event! Conference registration is open to the public. Content is targeted to professional women and men who support parity for women in the workplace.

Customized corporate training is available for a variety of topics on leadership development, collaboration, diversity, and best-practices for developing top talent. Full-day, half-day, and “lunch and learn” sessions are all options.

Momentum also offers a highly-successful mentor matching and training program. Individuals interested in serving as a mentor and those in search of a mentor are encouraged to apply! There is no cost to receive mentor training or to be assigned a mentor. We ask only for your patience as we work to find the right match!
