Dr. Nena Sanders
Dr. Nena Sanders, Vice Provost of Samford University’s College of Health Sciences, has been active in health policy, education, administration, and consulting for 35 years. She has served on editorial boards of major nursing journals; as a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives’ Committee on Research; as a grant reviewer for the National Center for Nursing Research, National Institutes of Health (NIH); and as a representative to the Health Conference on Research Priorities for the National Institute of Nursing Research (NIH). She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and Omicron Delta Kappa.
She is a member of the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame and completed the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Wharton Executive Leadership Program. Within the community, she serves as a member of a health system board of directors and is active in philanthropic and professional organizations.
Dr. Sanders is the moderator for Understanding Succession Planning, Mentoring, and Sponsorship.
