After a 30-year career in management, sales, marketing, development, and design work in the public sector, Kathi decided to retire twelve-years ago and use her skills in the non-profit world.

Kathi is currently employed by Baron Critical Weather Institute a 501(C)3 whose mission is to provide world-class weather instrumentation in support of Public Safety, Educational Outreach, and Economic Development. She currently serves as their Chief Operating Officer.

Kathi has a passion for non-profits, the people they serve and the desire to help develop servant leaders. She works with may non-profits, on a volunteer basis, to provide strategic planning, governance oversight and training, financial guidance, fund development.

Kathi enjoys teaching and training non-profit board members, staff, and volunteers how to be effective members of their board. She does this through development of teaching materials, forms, and guidelines that non-profits can tailor to their specific needs when building a board or transitioning their board to a working board. She has been a facilitator, served on panels, and taught classes at Non-Profit University/Navigate, an outreach of the Community Foundation for eight years. She also meets individually with nonprofits at their request.

Over the past 12 years, Kathi has served as the chair of over 30 major fundraisers, and as a committee member of many others, helping to raise millions of dollars for non -profits in the Huntsville Community.

Kathi has been married for 40 years to her husband Norm, a Vice President and General Manager of Missile and Weapons Systems Division at the Boeing Company, now retired. Together they have two daughters and six granddaughters. They have lived in Huntsville, Alabama for 27 years.

Kathi currently serves on the boards of Huntsville Botanical Garden (Vice-Chairman), Huntsville Museum of Art Foundation Board (board is responsible for Skating In the Park), Space & Rocket Center Foundation Board, Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama Board of Directors (governance chair), Liberty Learning Foundation Board (immediate past Chairman), Director Emeritus of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Huntsville Orchestra Foundation Board, the Leadership Council of the Women’s Philanthropy Society, and as an Ambassador to HudsonAlpha.
