Leticia Tatum

Leticia Tatum is the Vice President at Valent Group, an insurance agency that provides risk consulting and insurance for businesses, employer benefit groups, and individuals across Alabama and nationwide. She is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the human resources functions across their four offices. With more than 18 years of HR experience, Leticia likes to take a dual approach to HR: employee and organizational. From the employee perspective: ensuring employees have the tools and resources in place to be successful, focusing on the employee experience. From an organizational perspective: acting as a workforce advisor in a strategic capacity to ensure our greatest resource (employees) align with the mission, values, and financial success of the company.
Before joining Valent, Leticia served as a Benefits HR Associate and Employee Relations Representative at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to that, Leticia worked at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA/MAX).
Leticia is a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
She is the past recipient of the Employee of the Year in a Large Business award by The Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities-Birmingham Area and MDA’s Toast to Strength award. She is also active in the local chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (BSHRM)
Leticia’s passion for people extends to bringing awareness to and advocating for individuals with disabilities; especially those with neuromuscular diseases. Her mission also includes ensuring disabled employees have more visible roles in the workforce.
