Enterprise Chief Information Officer

Matt Speare joined Regions in 2013 and serves as Enterprise Chief Information Officer.   In this role, Mr. Speare has responsibility for Application Development, Corporate Computing, Information Security, Information Technology Governance, and Enterprise Project Management.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2015, Speare was Head of Governance and Integration for Regions. Before joining Regions, Speare was the Chief Technology Officer for M&T Bank, an $82 billion financial institution based out of Buffalo, NY.

Speare earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering from East Carolina University.  Mr. Speare is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and attack helicopter pilot with over 2,000 combat flight hours.  Additionally, Mr. Speare serves on the Executive Advisory Committees for Financial Services Roundtable BITS and Cisco Systems, serves on the Board for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama and Techbridge-Alabama, and is a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, a nonprofit organization that provides free air transportation for people with a medical need that cannot be filled in their local area.
