Sheila Benson

Sheila Benson is the President and CEO of Employment Screening Services.  ESS is a top 10, national human resource and risk management solution provider, specializing in background screening and drug testing. For over 20 years, ESS has partnered with companies to minimize risk, protect their assets, their reputations and safeguard their employees.

Founding her first business at age 24, Sheila successfully sold that company as well as two other title insurance companies she founded. In the process she recognized the opportunity to work with clients to manage their hiring risk through the background screening of potential employees.  Thanks to Sheila’s vision, ESS has reached a new level of national competitiveness that boasts inclusion on the Inc. 5000 list for 9 consecutive years. In 2015, Sheila Benson was recognized nationally as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. On a local level, Sheila was also recognized as the 2014 CEO of the Year by the Birmingham Business Journal and has received many prestigious awards in the course of her career. Sheila continues to drive the success of ESS by remaining focused on future innovation and advanced solutions for a growing global marketplace.
