Momentum Works

Workforce Development Redefined

Momentum Works brings Momentum’s proven leadership development framework to women who are employed but may be missing their optimal potential for a variety of reasons. In just six months, Momentum Works participants gain the confidence and skills they need to make transformational changes. In fact, over half of participants receive upward mobility or a promotion while still in the program, with even more successes in the years to come.

“Thank you for seeing potential in me, for creating a space where women can grow and thrive, and for building a program that truly changes lives. The first cohort was just the beginning– I’m so proud to be part of the Momentum Works legacy. I’m currently pursuing my doctorate in education and organizational leadership from Samford University, and I carry the lessons and confidence you all instilled in me into every aspect of my work and life.”
–Tambra Clark, Technology Integration Officer, Birmingham City Schools
Momentum Works Class One

Momentum Works is delivered through a series of six monthly sessions focused on emotional intelligence, strengths assessment, resilience, financial management, personal branding, and staying the course. The sessions are supplemented with online resources, mentor matching, co-mentoring, coaching, and networking opportunities. Sessions are held on Saturdays, outside traditional business hours, to maximize participation.

We believe that every leader who seeks personal and professional growth should have access to the resources and networks Momentum provides. Tuition for Momentum Works is $1,800. Thanks to generous funding from our partners, partial scholarships and childcare stipends are available to those who need them.

Momentum would like to thank the City of Birmingham, the Altec/Styslinger Foundation in partnership with Prosper, Alabama Power Foundation, Women’s Foundation of Alabama, Community Foundation for a Greater Birmingham, the Daniel Foundation, the Hugh Kaul Foundation, the Charles and Estelle Campbell Foundation, and our Honor Roll members for their generous support of Momentum Works.

Attendance

Participants agree to review session dates and commit to attending each session. Women who complete at least five of the six sessions will obtain a Momentum Works certification at the end of the program. All certified Momentum Works women who keep current on Momentum membership will have lifetime access to the Momentum network of nearly 1,000 professional women.

Momentum Works is an innovative initiative to advance economic mobility for working women. We endorse Momentum’s commitment to creating economic opportunity through career development training for underserved populations, all to amplify their involvement in business, culture, community, civic, and family life in Birmingham. This program will greatly impact the careers of minority women, female entrepreneurs, single mothers, and women working in under-resourced fields or male-dominated industries.
