Melody Banks
Melody Banks is a Chief Human Resources Officer with more than 20 years of executive leadership experience advancing enterprise HR strategy, organizational transformation, workforce optimization, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and HR technology modernization across public and private sector organizations. She is recognized for building scalable HR infrastructures, leading complex change, and aligning people strategy with business priorities to strengthen organizational performance, resilience, and long-term value.
As CHRO for Jefferson County Commission, Melody leads the organization’s human resources strategy and supports a workforce of more than 2,500 employees. She oversees talent acquisition, organizational development, total rewards, HR technology, payroll, and employee experience. During her tenure, she has led enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, including the introduction of an enterprise-wide HRIS, modernization of talent acquisition, and development of scalable HR frameworks designed to support continued growth.
Melody holds a Juris Doctor from Birmingham School of Law, an Executive Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration from Faulkner University, and is a graduate of the Momentum Executive Leadership Program (Class 18). She holds the SHRM-SCP and SPHR designations and certifications in artificial intelligence and leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Harvard Data Science Review.
A committed leader and lifelong learner, Melody serves on the Momentum Board of Directors and chairs the Momentum Human Resources Committee. She is also an active member of the Alabama State Bar, Society for Human Resource Management, and Birmingham Society for Human Resource Management. She is particularly passionate about emerging technologies and the strategic application of artificial intelligence in Human Resources, as well as developing leaders and building high-performing, collaborative organizations that create lasting business value.
