Director, Community & Government Relations
Board Position:

With a passion for healthcare and helping others, Amy George serves as Director of Community and Government Relations for Huntsville Hospital Foundation where she engages with corporate donors and government agencies to ensure funding for Huntsville and Madison Hospitals, and oversees the Foundation’s grants program and community engagement strategy.
Amy moved to Huntsville in 1996 to join WHNT-TV as a television news reporter and anchor. In 2005, she gave birth to twin girls, Melissa and Ann Catherine, who were born 14 weeks premature. Melissa’s Fund has raised $5.9 million to date to provide critical, lifesaving equipment, bereavement support and program support for the Regional Neonatal ICU at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. Amy also partnered with Hospice Family Care in 2018 to start the HOPE group (Helping Other Parents Endure) for parents who have lost infants.
Amy is a graduate of Momentum Huntsville Class 2, and is thrilled to join the organization’s Board of Directors. She is a member of the Huntsville Committee of 100 and a graduate of Leadership Huntsville’s Management Academy (class 12) and Focus (class 10). Amy has served on several non-profit boards including Hospice Family Care, American Heart Association and Girls, Inc. As a journalist, she was awarded Best Specialized Reporter in 2004 by the Alabama Associated Press and Best Television Religion Reporter in a Local Market by the Religion Newswriters Association. She has also received community service awards from Volunteers of America and the Interfaith Mission Service of Huntsville along with Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Doctor of Philanthropy award, for her philanthropic work on behalf of Melissa’s Fund.
Amy was born and raised in Muscle Shoals and graduated cum laude from The University of Alabama with a degree in Telecommunication and Film and a minor in English and Political Science. Amy is at her happiest when she’s traveling to new places with Chris, and their daughters, Ann Catherine and Lily Baker.
