Andrea Boohaker

Dr. Andrea Boohaker is the Director of Advanced Practice Providers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and serves as an adjunct clinical instructor in the acute care track at the UAB School of Nursing. In her current role, Dr. Boohaker assists APP leaders in increasing utilization of APPs and developing positive APP-driven strategies for service lines across the institution.  
Dr. Boohaker earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 2007 and completed her DNP at UAB with a focus on wellness and burnout in APPs. She has worked as an orthopaedic trauma nurse practitioner for 18 years beginning her career at the University of Texas at Houston in the Texas Medical Center. 
Dr. Boohaker serves on several committees at UAB including the Ambulatory Access Executive Committee and is the Chair of the APP Executive Council, which represents the advanced practice cohort. Dr. Boohaker is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. She is married and has three wonderful children.
