Brenna Powell

Brenna Powell is the Head of Campus Facilities and Operations at Southern Research, a translational research and biotechnology nonprofit organization in Birmingham, Alabama. She is responsible for the implementation of an over $100 million master campus plan currently underway to support strategic growth by modernizing existing spaces and adding a new research building. She also oversees the operational divisions that support the company’s day-to-day work.
Prior to joining Southern Research, Brenna served for 20 years at Ascension St. Vincent’s leading strategic growth and business development and serving as Chief Strategy Officer for the Alabama market.
She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University and a M.S. in Health Administration from UAB. She was named one of Birmingham Magazine’s Women Who Shape the State in 2019 and is a two-time recipient of the UAB Excellence in Business award. Brenna and her husband, Steven live in Gardendale and have two children, Lily and Jackson, who are finishing high school and preparing to leave for college.
