Janet Shawn Deason

Born and raised in California, Shawn Deason made her way to the South in July 2019. While the reasons for the move no longer exist, Shawn remains in Alabama for her career and growth at Vulcan Materials Company, her participation at Church of the Highlands, and the relationships she has formed at both institutions. Growing up in the melting pot of San Francisco, Shawn learned early on the beauty and necessity of diversity and tolerance. Her immigrant Filipino parents taught her and her two sisters to be self-sufficient, proactive, and hardworking in everything that they do, from chores to careers. Shawn graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor’s in English and a Minor in Business Management. She obtained her law degree from Whitter Law School in Costa Mesa, California. Shawn is licensed to practice law in both California and Alabama. She currently works at Vulcan’s Corporate office as a Benefits Analyst II and resides in Vestavia Hills.
