Board Position:

Katrina Watson is the Senior Vice President of Community Impact at United Way of Central Alabama. She has a vision to empower people, strengthen organizations, and enhance communities. Prior to United Way, Katrina served as President and Executive Director of The Literacy Council of Central Alabama (TLC). Under her leadership, TLC increased its annual revenue by 33%, increased its staff size by 36%, developed a workforce development program, and instituted a remote learning program.

Katrina has served in leadership positions with the UAB MPA Alumni Society, Children’s Policy Cooperative of Jefferson County, Birmingham Public Library Board of Trustees, and the Birmingham Change Fund. Katrina also served on the Barbara Bush Foundation’s Equity & Access National Working Group.

Katrina is a 2023 graduate of Momentum’s Executive Leaders Program, 2022 graduate of Alabama Leadership Initiative, and a 2020 graduate of Leadership Birmingham. Katrina has been recognized as a Top Influencer Under 40 by Birmingham Magazine and a Rising Star by UAB’s National Alumni Society. The Birmingham Business Journal has named Katrina a Top 40 Under 40, Who’s Who in Workforce Development Birmingham, Who’s Who in Nonprofits, an Executive of Influence, and a Woman to Watch. Katrina is a recipient of the Sam Gaston Excellence in Mentoring Award and is a member of the Rotary Club of Birmingham.

Katrina earned her bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Master of Public Administration from UAB, and Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regent University. Katrina and her husband have two delightful children.
