Dr. Laine McDonald is a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician with over 19 years of experience providing compassionate and efficient care in high-pressure environments. Known for expertise in rapid assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of acute medical conditions, Dr. McDonald is committed to delivering optimal patient outcomes under challenging circumstances.
Currently practicing at the University of Alabama, Dr. McDonald plays a pivotal role in the emergency department, overseeing critical cases including traum, cardiac emergencies, and other acute conditions. With a focus on evidence-based medicine and advanced procedural skills, Dr. McDonald ensures timely and effective interventions, aiming to stabilize patients and provide them with the highest standard of care.
Dr. McDonald completed her medical degree at the University of Alabama and went on to complete residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama. Additionally, she completed her internship in Obstretics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She maintains active board certification in Emergency Medicine and continually pursues professional development opportunities to stay at the forefront of medical advancements.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. McDonald is actively involved in medical education and leadership as a Clinical Associate Professor and as an Assistant Medical Director for the University Emergency Department at UAB. She also participates on several work groups and committees including the ED operations committee and the ED compensation committee.
Outside of medicine, Dr. McDonald enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and three children. She is committed to serving her community through participation in her children’s interests at their respective schools.
