Nancy Collat Goedecke

Nancy Collat Goedecke is the principal executive officer of Mayer and presides over all official meetings of the Board of Directors and stockholders.  She is a member of the Senior Management Team, the Executive Leadership Team, and Strategic Natural Team.

Nancy Goedecke and Mayer Electric Supply have always been connected through her grandfather, Ben Weil, who founded the business in 1930, and her mother and father, Patsy and Charles Collat, who took the helm in 1979. Nancy began working at Mayer during the summers of her high school years. After her college graduation and marriage to Glenn Goedecke, her career in electrical wholesale distribution continued in Grand Rapids, MI.  With a subsequent move to Tampa, FL, Nancy began her work as an inside sales associate at Mayer as well as becoming a mother to her first born, David. After the move back to Birmingham and the arrival of a second son, Scott, Nancy’s time was devoted to her family, volunteer activities, and Mayer leadership.  In 2005, Nancy was named Vice Chairman of the Board and, in 2008, Chair of the Board & CEO.  In 2011, she added a daughter-in-law, Jayna, and in 2013 welcomed her granddaughter, Ava, marking the beginning of the fifth generation of Mayer’s family ownership.

In addition to her role as the Chairman & CEO of Mayer, Nancy is an active member in the community. Nancy currently serves as a board member for the Alabama Productivity Center, American Red Cross, Birmingham Business Alliance, Birmingham Zoo, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Alabama, the Emmett O’Neal Library Foundation, Federal Reserve Bank, Leadership Birmingham, Rotary Club, and UAB Leadership Cabinet. She was recently chosen to be the first woman in the 93-year history of the United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA) to chair the organization’s annual fundraising campaign.  Nancy also served as Campaign Chair for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign and has served in various capacities with Collat Jewish Family Services, Girl Scouts, Junior League, Pathways and YWCA.
