Olivia Cook
Dr. Olivia Janay Cook is the Inaugural Executive Director of the Center for Economic and Social Justice at Miles College. In her role she serves as the chief advisor to the president regarding the full erection of the Center, where the mission is to create a vibrant ecosystem that fosters innovative thinking, scholarly research, and entrepreneurial ideas that promote systems of economic and social prosperity. The Center’s ultimate vision is to cultivate social justice change agents who have a sense of their own agency and use it to change their world. Dr. Cook, a native of Auburn, AL and a tri-alumna of Auburn University, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Polymer and Fiber Engineering, and a minor in Spanish as well as a Masters and Ph.D. in Public Administration and Public Policy. Beyond her industry and academic accomplishments, she is the author of For the Love of Thirty: 30 inspirational life lessons for your journey towards purpose, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. These endeavors have assisted her greatly in her work globally, which includes international collaborations in Spanish speaking countries, Canada, Europe, and Africa.
