Sheila Akins

I am a results driven finance professional currently serving as a Plant Controller at Evonik, where I oversee financial performance for production operations, ensure compliance with GAAP standards, and drive process improvements and cost optimization. I bring over a decade of experience in finance and analytics, with a background that includes roles as a Financial Analyst and Business Analyst. Throughout my career, I have led budgeting and forecasting efforts, developed reporting tools for leadership, and provided data driven insights to support strategic decision making. I have strong expertise in cost accounting, variance analysis, and systems such as SAP, and I am passionate about improving processes that increase efficiency and accuracy. I hold a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Alabama A&M University. I am also a Certified Scrum Master and have completed project management training, which has strengthened my ability to lead initiatives and collaborate across teams. Outside of my professional work, I am committed to giving back to my community. I have volunteered with organizations such as Red Mountain Theatre and Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama, and I am passionate about using my skills and experiences to make a positive impact both professionally and personally.
