Tami Long
Tami Long, PhD, is the Director of the UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center (EACC) and previously served as EACC Program Coordinator. Dr. Long enjoys working with adults, couples, and teenagers and is committed to providing them with the tools they need to be successful. She believes all clients are capable of achieving personal goals, developing self-awareness, and overcoming life challenges. Dr. Long began her human services career as an Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) Social Worker and later owned a business, which provided family support services for Shelby, Madison, Jefferson, and Limestone County DHR. Before beginning employment at the EACC in 2004, she was the Clinical Coordinator for the Bessemer Boys and Girls Group Homes for Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services.
Dr. Long has 22 years of experience in the counseling profession and over 11 years of experience as a clinical supervisor within inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. Dr. Long counsel’s clients with the following treatment issues: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship concerns, trauma, adjustment issues, self-esteem, and job-related problems. She currently serves as secretary on the Executive Board for the International Association of Employee Assistance Professionals in Education (IAEAPE). She desires to enhance the lives of employees and their families by offering quality EAP counseling and services that support and improve one’s overall mental health and emotional well-being.
