Tania Ortiz Terry is a Senior Staff Engineer in the Planning and Strategy Business Unit with Honda Development and Manufacturing of America. In this role, Tania leads the development & execution of activities for all North American Auto sites’ business plans, specifically for the operating direction of the company. This includes manufacturing efficiencies, resource management, human capital, logistics and physical space to ensure the company’s operational priorities are met.
With over 19 years of experience at Honda’s Alabama Auto Plant operations, Tania has held various roles within the Corporate Planning, the Purchasing, the Quality, and in the New Model Departments.
Prior to her current role, Tania performed a similar function in the Alabama Auto Plant Corporate Planning Division. Before that, she served 10 years in the Quality division where she held various roles. Tania was a Business Operations Manager in the Quality department overseeing the plant certification for global exports, leading ISO 9001 Quality Management System activities, developing quality strategies and working with departments to execute those strategies. Additionally, she served as New Model Quality project lead responsible for setting the quality strategies for the introduction of new model vehicles. From 2004-2007, Tania was a Purchasing Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for procurement and the development of suppliers.
A native of Puerto Rico, she moved to Birmingham, AL during her senior year of High School and graduated from Hoover High School. Tania worked as a Human Resource specialist at Sears hiring and training new associates and managing the cash management office. Upon graduating the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tania began her career at Honda.
Tania has been married to her husband for 18 years, and together, they have two children and two dogs. Fluent in Spanish, Tania volunteers monthly at her children’s school translating between Spanish and English for the large number of Hispanic families attending the school. Between work and family, Tania enjoys sports and being active in the Birmingham community she calls home.
Located in Lincoln, Honda’s Alabama Auto Plant $3 billion vehicle and engine operation in Alabama employs more than 4,500 associates and produces the Odyssey minivan, Pilot SUV, Passport SUV, the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck and the V-6 engines that power each vehicle. AAP has the capacity to produce more than 340,000 vehicles and engines annually at its Alabama facility.
