Veronica Wehby-Upchurch
Veronica L. Wehby-Upchurch is the Campaign Development Manager for Birmingham Visionaries of the Year at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where she leads peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives and strategic planning e orts. She is recognized for her leadership in volunteer recruitment, relationship building, and event planning. Previously, Veronica served as the Program and Communications Manager at VAX 2 STOP CANCER, where she oversaw major health programs and managed marketing communications. She also held the role of Executive Director at Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama, managing board development, strategic initiatives, and major fundraising events.
Veronica is a passionate advocate for public health and equity, actively contributing the various boards and coalitions. As the proud mom of a child born through IVF, she has been a prominent advocate for IVF at both state and federal levels. She played a key role in the effort that successfully passed legislation allowing fertility clinics in Alabama to resume services after they were halted by an Alabama Supreme Court ruling in early 2024. Veronica led the Alabama coalition as State Captain for RESOLVE’s Federal Advocacy Day, hosted in partnership with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). In this role, she collaborated with fellow members of the infertility community to engage with Members of Congress on critical issues, including increased access to family-building options and financial relief. Veronica’s personal journey with IVF has been featured in The New York Times, the BBC, and numerous other national and international publications. A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, Veronica is known for her strategic vision, initiative, and exceptional people skills, making a significant impact in the nonprofit sector.
