Birmingham Upward Class 7

On October 7th, Momentum’s Birmingham Upward Class 7 celebrated its graduation after completing 9 months of sessions. The program ran from February to October, and featured two cohorts: one cohort of 28 women for early career and one cohort of 37 women for mid-career. Each class session is half-day, one cohort in the morning and the second cohort in the afternoon. Sessions are hosted by Momentum’s partners in the Birmingham metro-area.

Throughout the nine month program, participants were able to develop a deep sense of self-awareness that empowers them to lead with confidence, stay grounded in their values, and lean into their unique strengths. Participants also learned to navigate diverse personalities and communication styles in the workplace. All of these skills enhance both their job satisfaction and making them incredibly effective employees.

“The impact of this program is so vital to our community as these graduates not only grow in their own careers but take the skills and knowledge they’ve gained back into their own organizations to shape healthier and more productive workplace cultures,” Lindsey Setzer, Director of Programs at Momentum Leaders

35% of Upward class 7 received promotions or upward mobility during the program.

“Momentum provided an incredible opportunity to learn from and with women who are leading change in their industries. It challenged me to think bigger — not just about my own leadership journey, but about how we can continue empowering women across Birmingham to shape what’s next for our region,” Audrey Pannell, Vice President of Communications & Marketing at Birmingham Business Alliance

The momentum team is incredibly proud of this accomplished and driven group of women, who have already made a meaningful impact on their community. We are confident they will continue to pave the way for future female leaders. To learn more about Upward, click here.
