This week, Upward Class Six graduated after completing nine months of personal and professional development. These 64 remarkable women wrapped their program year with a day of reflection and meaningful discussions. The graduation ceremony was held at The Florentine in Birmingham where Joyce E. Brooks gave a powerful graduation address.

Upward participants discuss and review their program year.
“Upward exceeded my expectations. I have enjoyed networking and getting to know these phenomenal women.”- Upward Class Six participant
Graduates will now begin their journey as Momentum alumnae, connecting with over 350 Upward alumnae and more than 650 Executive alumnae. The next step for many will be participating in our Mentor Matching program. More than half of Upward Class Six alumnae plan to seek a mentor with Momentum, while many others plan to begin serving as mentors.
“I learned my self worth as a woman, parent, spouse and leader within the workplace. I learned that I am worth more than what has been given and the confidence to voice just that.”- Upward Class Six participant
Our team is incredibly proud of this accomplished and driven class of women, who have already made a significant impact on their community. We are confident they will continue to pave the way for future female leaders.
The Upward program runs from February to October and is comprised of two cohorts of approximately 30 women each: one for early career and one for mid-career. Each class session is half-day, one cohort in the morning and the second cohort in the afternoon. Facilitators of Upward sessions are world class leadership experts and guide participants through a process of self-awareness, vision casting, and action planning. Throughout their time in Upward, class members gain access to a vast network of women leaders across all sectors of the workforce. To learn more about Upward, click here.
