Title IX brought more than women’s sports to the High School and Collegiate arenas. Title IX promoted equal access to higher education, access to career education choices, athletic scholarships for women in addition to the most widely known outcome – access for women to play sports. Prior to Title IX, only 1 in 27 girls played varsity high school sports. By 2001, 1 in every 2.5 girls has played a sport.
