Crystal Maxena is no stranger to Momentum. It’s been one year since her graduation from our Executive Leadership Program, and almost three years since her graduation from our Upward Early-Career Program.
Crystal experienced the Upward class during a particularly challenging time: at the onset of COVID-19. “Most of our Upward sessions were virtual, so that was a unique experience. We still managed to connect and learn a lot, and the women in my co-mentoring group still keep in touch.”
Since graduation, Crystal has continued to excel in her leadership.
As the Accounting Supervisor at Vulcan Materials Company, Crystal credits Momentum for her expanded network, advanced skillsets, and tools to become a better leader.
“I’ve learned to be empathetic to my team, to be able to support them wherever they are, not just technically, but emotionally as well,” she commented.
Over the course of a nine-month curriculum, Momentum’s Executive Program fosters connections among Alabama’s most promising women. Crystal says she was continually impressed by the network of outstanding, supportive women in Momentum.
When asked what stood out about her Momentum experience, Crystal immediately replied: “the facilitators.” Momentum’s Executive Program brings in experts from across the nation to deliver curriculum and encourage both the personal and professional growth of each leader.
“The facilitators Momentum brings in for this program are second to none. I’m really thankful for the opportunity to experience that caliber of content. The investment poured into us is just unmatched,” she said.
Vulcan Materials Company has invested in Momentum’s mission since its inception in 2002. The company was recently named as one of the Top 200 Best Companies to Work For by U.S. News and World Report and was also included in the 2023 Fortune 500 list.
