This summer, Momentum celebrated the graduation of Momentum Works Class 3, Cohort 1. Over the course of six months, participants invested in their leadership growth through sessions focused on emotional intelligence, visualizing possibilities, resilience, and taking action, in addition to group co-mentoring.
Some graduates’ reflections on their experience included:
“I didn’t think I was worth the investment, but Momentum has taught me that I am my greatest investment. I already had it in me– I just needed a push.”
“This was a wonderful program. I’m excited that this is only the beginning.”
“Momentum Works is an exceptional program that pours into and provides women with the tools they need to be successful and reach their highest heights.”
The day began with the cohort’s final session, “Staying the Course: The Guide to Positive Sustainability,” facilitated by Raven Holloway. During the session, participants reflected on their Momentum Works journey while setting intentions and goals to sustain their growth long after the program concludes.
As part of the session, Raven’s daughter, Kennedy Holloway, shared a message about the importance of believing in yourself, embracing your potential, and recognizing the impact of the journey each participant had taken.
Kennedy reflected on the transformations she observed during sessions with her mom.
“I’ve had the privilege of sitting in on some sessions and witnessing the transformation. I’ve seen women speak up for the first time. I’ve seen women step into leadership roles that once felt out of reach.”
To close the session, Momentum Works Class 2 alumna Sherricka Embery welcomed participants into Momentum’s alumnae community, sharing the value of staying connected and continuing to build on the relationships and leadership skills developed throughout the program.
In the afternoon, supporters joined their graduates at the Junior League of Birmingham to celebrate this milestone. Upward Class 6 alumna Shakeitha Tatum offered remarks, encouraging graduates as they continue their leadership journey.
